Methods for Cleaning Molds
To better ensure the quality of plastic mold processing products and extend the service life of plastic molds, any plastic mold must be cleaned after each use.
The cleaning process for molds generally involves five steps: cooling and removal, cleaning, spraying rust inhibitor, air drying, and storage:
Cooling and Removal: After the injection molding process is completed, wait for the mold to cool down before removing it from the injection molding machine to facilitate the next cleaning step.
Cleaning: Use mold cleaning agents to clean the mold, ensuring no processing residues or dust remain on the mold surface.
Spraying Rust Inhibitor: Apply rust inhibitor to the mold surface to prevent rust formation, which could further affect the quality of mold processing.
Air Drying: Place the mold sprayed with rust inhibitor in a ventilated area to air dry, preventing dust from adhering to the surface and ensuring the mold surface remains smooth, thus maintaining processing quality.
Storage: After the rust inhibitor has air-dried, store the mold to better maintain it. When storing molds, it is important to keep them separate from injection molding machines and other processing equipment. This ensures the mold is ready for immediate use in the next processing cycle without requiring additional cleaning, avoiding wastage of mold cleaning agents.
